El Jardín Vegano

Online e-commerce site dedicated to promoting vegan products across Mexico. The project was built on WordPress and, besides working on the theme customization, I also translated the products’ description to Spanish.

El Jardín Vegano was born on April 2014 to provide delicious alternatives to vegans in Mexico. For this personal project, I customized a theme to make it colorful and to match the playfulness of the logo.

The user experience was one of the most important aspects of the site, so product information such as expiration date, size, weight, ingredients, and nutritional information were added to each product.

review and wishlist functionality was also implemented. I worked on this project for two years before moving abroad.

Home page

This simple and colorful page features a medium sized slider, best-selling products, featured products and on sale products. It also provides information regarding shipping methods, how the products are selected and the available payment forms. The menu has four main categories: Food, Beauty, Supplements and On Sale. Next to these sections, there's a shopping cart and a search function. A top bar enables the customer to log in and log out. When the client clicks on this link, a popup appears that gives them the option to log in either with Facebook or through email. Customers are also able to register and recover their password through this popup. The footer provides more information about the store, links to social media accounts such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest. There are also links directing the client to the About page, the Contact page and the Help page. At the end of the page, the customer can review the Shipping and Returns policy, the Rewards Program, the Terms and Conditions, and the Privacy Policy.

Shop page

The shop page shows a specific category, in this case the Food, with a brief description of the brands that the client will find in the current category. Below the description, there is a five-column layout that shows products based on price. Clicking on the Add to Cart button will add the product to the client's cart immediately, without redirecting them to the cart page.

Product page

The product page contains breadcrumbs to allow the user to go back to a specific category or sub-category. Under the name of the product, the client can see the price and the inventory status (when below five). There is also an Add to Cart button and the option to add items to a Wishlist. The product page also features product tabs, which contain a detailed description of the product, its ingredients, nutritional information (if available), the dimensions and weight of the product, and customer reviews. For cross- and up-selling, there's a slider that shows 4 products at a time, which can easily be added to the cart.

Cart page

The cart page contains all the items that the client has chosen to buy. From the cart page, the customer will be able to add or remove existing products from it and use coupon codes to get discounts. This page also shows the weight of the cart, which is useful because the shipping rates on the site are based on weight and type of product (refrigerated vs. non-refrigerated).

Wishlist page

The wishlist page is ideal for clients that want to share products from the site with their family and friends for special occasions. It includes the ability to add the products directly from the wishlist and to post about the products they want to social media.
